Wrap Up the Year: Reflect and Recharge Your Finances
By Mana Ahmed on October 08, 2024
Hello loyal subscribers! 🌟 As we enter the final quarter of the year, it’s the perfect moment to take a step back and evaluate where we stand with our finances. With only three months left, now is a great time to reflect on your goals, make any necessary adjustments, and set yourself up for a strong finish.
It's easy to focus on what we did wrong... but let's focus on what we did right.
Before you start setting new goals, take a moment to reflect on how far you’ve come. What successes can you celebrate? What is something you avoided for the health of your budget? What are some great things you have done this year? We forget that just as much as saving and investing is important, so is spending—especially intentionally spending on what we love.
Were we able to mindfully spend on things that bring us joy? As for me, I finally saw my all-time favorite singer, Jhene Aiko, with my sister. We love her as an artist and having that time with my sister to see our favorite artist live was a memorable moment for us.
This blog is meant to pause you from your busy life and encourage you to reflect on those special moments you've encountered throughout the year.
Feel those memories rush through you and experience the joy that comes with them. Remember that money is a tool, and you used it to create great memories for yourself. It’s the part of our personal finance that makes life enjoyable.
For those who may have faced challenges with spending this year, remember that this doesn’t mean you have to continue down that path in the last quarter. You are allowed to forgive yourself and pick yourself back up at any point in your financial journey.
Here are some actionable items to help you dominate this final stretch of the year:
1. Delete Food Delivery Apps: Remove DoorDash, UberEats, or any apps that make ordering food too easy. By eliminating these conveniences, you can reduce impulse spending on takeout.
2. Remove Payment Methods: Delete all debit and credit cards associated with your Amazon account and other shopping platforms. Having to re-enter your payment information can slow down the spending process, helping you think twice before making a purchase.
3. Try a Spending Detox: Consider a spending fast! This is a great way to silence impulse buying and focus on your financial goals. Set a specific time frame for your detox, whether it’s a week or a month, to reset your spending habits and regain control.
I encourage you to commit to one actionable item for the next two weeks. Take control and start today! Embrace the challenge and see the difference!
LET THIS QUARTER BE YOUR TURNING POINT!
